I have been a registered Independent since college days. And in 2008, I was a PUMA (Party Unity My Ass), if you remember those, and voted Green in two elections.
So for my friends and acquaintances who are BOBs (Bernie Or Bust), I hear you. I understand a little of where you are right now. People nagging and bullying you to make you change your heart are anxious and frightened, but I’m not. I get it.
A democratic republic is an unwieldy mess of a thing and Americans are darn nigh impossible to govern. So we all do what we think best, what our research, experience and hearts tell us is the proper course.
I honor your place in this great messy American experiment.
