I’ve been away from this for a while, as you well know.  I’ve been traveling–a little more every year. Things I love and feel are important to me have sometimes fallen by the wayside of the Village Witch on the road.

More importantly, though, I have changed. Changed much since I turned sixty a few years ago.

I am braver now than I was then. Also angrier. And kinder. And more generous. And more frightened. I’m a better Byron for being a different Byron.

My work becomes more textured all the time. I’m weaving more threads into the warp and weft of the weaving that is my work. Poetry, which I always felt weird doing, given my name. Music (singing, learning the fiddle) has returned after a long absence. Drawing and watercolor painting, back with a vengeance.

I am proud that my daughter is doing the work she has loved since she was in high school, though I want the place she works to treat her better.

I am sorry that my town has sold its soul to developers and idiots. I used to be a “downtown person” who loved to wander the streets of a town I loved. Now, I barely go there, except to visit my favorite bookshop–Malaprop’s.

This blog will be more political, angrier, sillier and possibly more informative than when I wrote regularly in the Before Time. I’ll lard it with relentless self-promotion of events I present in and projects I feel are important. I’ll give you unasked-for advice, which you are welcome to ignore.

Tower Time and what you can do in your life “Under the Tower” will also feature here–to offer you ideas or suggestions or share your ideas and visions with whoever is reading this blog.

Per ardua ad Terra, witches. Time to ride.
